Golden PD releases suspect sketches related to attempted assault on popular trail, assault at cemetery
The Golden Police Department has released additional information and suspect sketches related to two ongoing investigations, one of which involves a popular local trail.
Per the recent report from the police department, initial information that was released about these cases was intentionally limited in order to protect the privacy and safety of victims, to preserve the integrity of the investigation, and to “prevent potential suspects from fleeing or altering behavior.” With key investigative steps underway and composite sketches of two suspects completed, additional information has now been released.
According to police, an initial incident took place on January 18 involving a reported sexual assault at Golden Cemetery. This is said to have occurred during afternoon hours with the victim ultimately able to flee the suspect on foot. The suspect in this case was described as a Hispanic male in his late-20s to early 30s, between 5’9″ and 5’11” with a medium build. It is believed that the suspect related to this case may be associated with a maroon 2001 Subaru Forester.
A second incident reportedly took place on the morning of January 25 – this one on a popular local trail. According to police, officers responded to a report that an unknown male had chased after female runner on Clear Creek Trail, describing the case as an investigation of attempted sexual assault. More specifically, the incident unfolded along the portion of the trail near Ford St. and 7th St. The suspect in this case was described as a Middle Eastern male in his mid-20s, 5’7″, and with a slender build.
Composite sketches of both suspects can be seen below, along with the image of the vehicle that’s believed to be associated with the January 18 incident:

At this time, investigators haven’t determined whether or not both cases may be related.
Anyone with information related to either case or suspect should contact the Golden Police Department at 303-980-7300.
All suspects are to be considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
