Denver police searching for 2 homicide suspects, including 1 from 1997 cold case
Denver police are looking for two suspects involved in two separate murder investigations, one from Oct. 3 and another from a cold case in 1997.
Police are searching for the recent murder suspect, Gabriel Ortiz Trujillo, 26, following an Oct. 3 first-degree murder incident.

The murder happened at 9:25 p.m. in the 8600 block of East Colfax Avenue, which is near the intersection of Colfax Avenue and Yosemite Street.
Trujillo has a warrant out on charges of first-degree murder and is described as a 100-pound, five-foot-six-inch Hispanic man with brown eyes and brown hair.
Police are also searching for any information on a homicide that happened on Oct. 16, 1997.
The Denver Police Department’s cold case unit periodically puts Crime Stopper alerts out in hopes of new information coming forward, a Denver police spokesperson said.
Robert Escobedo Jr. was shot and killed behind the now-defunct High Rise Lounge in the 3200 block of West Colfax Avenue, near the intersection of West Colfax and Federal Boulevard, according to the crime stoppers alert.

The shooting happened after an argument, and witnesses said they saw several men leave the scene in a white truck, the crime stoppers post said.
After “many years of investigative efforts,” the crime remains unsolved, the post said.
Anyone with information in either case is asked to call Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867 or submit tips online at MetroDenverCrimeStoppers.com. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
The case number for the Oct. 3, 2025 homicide is 25-536615. The case number for the 1997 homicide is 97-43559.
