Aurora police looking for suspect in connection to parking lot murder

The Aurora Police Department asked for the public’s help in finding a man wanted in connection to a fatal shooting that occurred last weekend.

Investigators are looking for 40-year-old Marcus Marcelles Harper McCray after the shooting of a 34-year-old Aurora man on Oct. 25, according to a press release from the department.

Officers were called to a parking lot in the 1500 block of Macon Street — right off of East Colfax Avenue — around 2 p.m. on Oct. 25. Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from “obvious gunshot wounds,” the department said.

The victim later died at a nearby hospital. He will be identified by the Adams County Coroner’s Office following notification of family and an autopsy.

McCray is wanted on suspicion of first-degree murder after deliberation with a warrant from the Adams County District Court.

“McCray is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached by members of the community,” police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Callers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward up to $2,000.
