Denver weather: Damaging winds possible Tuesday in foothills, breezy in town

A high wind warning is in effect until midnight for parts of the Front Range foothills west of Denver. West winds between 35 to 50 mph, with gusts 80 to 90 mph are possible in the Front Range mountains and northern foothills. Strongest winds will be north of I-70 and east of the Continental Divide.

In town, Denver residents can expect mostly sunny skies today, with a high near 60, according to the National Weather Service in Boulder. South winds between 10 to 13 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 22 mph.

Tonight expect partly cloudy skies, with a low around 33. West southwest wind 6 to 10 mph becoming southeast after midnight.

Breezy conditions will exist both Wednesday and Thursday as well, however, with the down sloping winds comes warm temperatures. Thursday is forecast to be the warmest day of the week with highs in the 60s.

Continued sunny conditions are forecast the rest of the week.

Wednesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 59. South southeast wind 6 to 8 mph becoming west in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 18 mph.

Thursday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 65. West wind 8 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 58.

Saturday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60.
