Winter Park announces popular Mary Jane area set to close 7 weeks ahead of last year
While recent years have allowed the Mary Jane area to stay open past the closing of the majority of Winter Park Resort’s skiing and snowboarding terrain, that won’t be the case this year.
According to Winter Park Resort, the Mary Jane area was closed at noon on March 27 to preserve conditions for a final day of skiing and snowboarding in this part of the mountain on March 28.
To help put the early closure of Mary Jane into perspective, it’s important to remember that in 2025, its closing day was May 18.
The Mary Jane area opened in 1976, thus it celebrated 50 years this season: “let’s send her off right – don’t miss your final laps,” wrote the resort.
While the Winter Park website indicates the last day of skiing and riding at the resort is to be determined, Colorado Public Radio indicated that the resort was targeting April 19. Obviously, that’s conditions dependent though, and with statewide snowpack at about 30 percent of what’s typical for this time of the year and dropping fast, a lot remains up in the air in terms of spring skiing statewide.
Plan a visit to Winter Park to get some last laps of the season in on Mary Jane before its March 28 closure here.
