Denver taking its nightly holiday drone shows to the next level

For a second year, hundreds of drones will take to the skies above Denver during the holiday season.

The Mile High Drone Show will present free airborne animations every night starting Nov. 21 through the end of the year, thanks to a partnership between Visit Denver and Denver-based Brightflight Drone Shows, according to a news release. That’s 41 nights in a row.

Starting at 7 p.m., the shows will launch every night west of downtown and will last for 10-15 minutes, according to the Visit Denver release.

This year, the drone show will be even bigger as the organizers have added 200 drones, bringing the total to 600 drones. They’ve also increased the maximum size to 500 feet in height and width.

The shows will be holiday-themed, but will also feature iconic Denver landmarks like Red Rocks and Blucifer.

The top spots to watch the shows are listed as follows:

  • Tivoli Quad on Auraria Campus
  • Sculpture Park at the Denver Performing Arts Complex
  • 54thirty Rooftop at the Le Méridien Denver Downtown
  • Peaks Lounge at Hyatt Regency Denver at Colorado Convention Center

Some of the shows on select nights will feature special animations dedicated to Denver’s sports teams, according to the release.
