Parachuter dead in Colorado after being spotted in spin with partially open chute
A solo parachuter reportedly died following an incident that took place in Boulder County on November 16.
At about 3 p.m. on Sunday, a report was received regarding a parachuter who was found face down in a field northeast of Boulder and just north of Gunbarrel on the 10000 block of N. 75th Street. The 60-year-old parachuter was not breathing and non-responsive at the time he was found.
Emergency teams responded and CPR efforts were initiated, but the parachuter was ultimately pronounced deceased at the scene.
A witness who saw the parachuting incident reported that the parachuter was a few hundred feet above the ground and descending quickly, in a spin with a parachute that was not fully open. The parachuter was described by law enforcement as someone who was qualified to make solo jumps.
Information about the man’s cause of death was not released. While this could have been related to an accident while parachuting or gear not working properly, a medical event may be a possibility, too. Information about cause of death, along with the identity of the deceased will be released at a later date.
Condolences go out to those impacted by this man’s death.
