The saga of the ‘unvaxxed singles and community’ meet-up event that was previously set to take place at Recess Beer Garden in Denver continues, now scheduled at a new venue after the previous spot barred the event due to “escalating safety concerns” and policy violations. Soon after the event was announced, Recess distanced themselves from it, issuing a public statement that the bar was “not affiliated with, sponsoring, or hosting this event.”

The event that’s drawn controversy is being hosted by online platform Unjected, which has a goal of forming connections between people who are opposed to vaccination. “While we do not support vaccination of any kind, Unjected is specifically tailored for COVID-19 unvaccinated or any mRNA-based injection,” reads the company’s website.

With the company hosting numerous meet-ups around the country this summer, the Denver area meet-up that’s scheduled to take place on May 29 will now be happening at The Grizzly Rose, which is a country music venue that features a dance floor and live bands.

The event has since been branded as “The Freedom Mixer,” with a social media post being quite brazen about the location switch.

“They tried to cancel us,” it reads. “Deplatformed for daring to believe in choice. Silenced for asking questions. So we did the most American thing we could think of – we booked a dance hall.”

The social media post from Unjected also addresses what they call “three small freedoms” – freedom of choice whether or not you put something in your body, bodily autonomy that no one else gets the final say, and the right to gather.

The event continues to draw criticism online, with the switch also getting praise from those who support Unjected and their mission statement. Many people online seem to agree that The Grizzly Rose is a better fit for the event.
