Man found shot dead near Westminster’s Wolff Run Park, police seeking help
Police are asking Westminster residents for help after they found a man shot dead in a parking lot near Wolff Run Park Saturday morning.
Officers responding to a welfare check in the 4700 block of West 76th Avenue around 7 a.m. Saturday found a man in his late 20s lying face down in a parking lot near the park, the Westminster Police Department said on social media. The man had several visible gunshot wounds.
Witnesses who live in the area told police that they heard multiple gunshots around 2 a.m. Saturday, but did not alert authorities, according to the post. They also saw a dark-colored sedan leaving the park at that time.
Police are asking anyone who lives near the park to check any exterior video cameras they have for footage recorded between 1:30 a.m. and 3 a.m. Saturday. Anyone who has any related information or video footage is asked to contact the department’s non-emergency phone number at 303-658-4360.
Authorities believe the incident is isolated and there is no threat to the public at this time. The Adams County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity in the coming days.
