Denver weather: Snow and chilly temperatures on MLK Day
Light snow is expected to clear out of Denver on Monday morning but the chilly temperatures will hang around throughout the Martin Luther King Jr. Day holiday, meteorologist said.
The National Weather Service in Boulder said to expect the snow to mostly end in Denver after 7 a.m., giving way to gradually clearing skies.
Most of the Denver metro area can expect between a trace and 2 inches of accumulation from this storm.
“This will lead to poor travel conditions Monday morning,” the weather service said.
The Colorado Department of Transportation on Monday morning reported icy spots along most highways across the Denver metro area and foothills.
The high temperature in Denver will be around 39 degrees, meteorologists said. That’s about 5 degrees colder than the usual average high temperature for Jan. 19 in Denver, according to weather service historical data.
The hourly forecast projects temperatures to climb just above freezing by 11:45 a.m. when Denver’s annual MLK Marade begins marching from City Park to the state Capitol.
Tonight, expect mostly clear skies with the low dipping to around 22 degrees, meteorologists said.
