United’s new Denver route to Mexico City and Punta Cana begins this week

United is about to begin service to two new destinations aimed to better connect Denver International Airport to more Latin American and Caribbean destinations.

The airline will begin flying to Mexico City, and Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on Sunday, according to a United press release.

The new route to Mexico City will be the only nonstop service by a U.S. airline out of Denver, United said. It will operate daily at 6 p.m. during the winter schedule that lasts from October to March.

The flight to Punta Cana will also be United’s first time flying to the Dominican Republic city out of Denver.

United has been expanding its service from Denver, one of its hubs, to cities across Latin America and the Caribbean. The airline has added eight routes since 2019, United said in the release.

It has connections to Montego Bay, Jamaica; Nassau, Bahamas; San Juan, Puerto Rico; Belize City, Belize; Liberia, Costa Rica; San Jose, Costa Rica; Roatan, Honduras; Cancun, Mexico; Cozumel, Mexico; Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

In addition, United announced the first route between Denver and Carlsbad, Calif. on Tuesday. It’ll be the airline’s 18th destination between Denver and California and it will offer nonstop service twice a day.

The airline is also investing in bringing Starlink wi-fi service to all of its flights.

On Monday, United flew its first aircraft equipped with Starlink out of Denver to Kansas City. The airline said it plans to upgrade its Boeing 737-800 planes with Starlink every month and half of its regional fleet already has Starlink onboard.
