144th Avenue reopens following crash that killed a motorcycle driver

A section of East 144th Avenue has reopened in all directions between Washington and Franklin streets following a fatal crash that occurred Friday morning.
The road closed for an approximately three-hour investigation, and reopened around 11:30 a.m. according to the Thornton Police Department.

The crash involved a motorcycle driver and a truck according to police.
The motorcycle rider was transported to a hospital with serious injuries, and died shortly after arriving. Police said no one else involved in the crash was injured.
Preliminary investigation revealed the 21-year-old man riding the motorcycle was traveling westbound on East 144th Avenue approaching Washington Street at a high rate of speed while weaving in and out of traffic, witnesses told police.
The motorcyclist struck the back end of the truck causing the driver of the motorcycle to lose control and crash.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office will release the identification pending notification of family and an autopsy.
