2 injured in shooting near Citadel mall early Sunday: Colorado Springs police
Two people sustained gunshot wounds after an altercation escalated to gunfire near The Citadel mall early Sunday, Colorado Springs police said.
The incident took just after 2 a.m. near a business in the 3600 block of Citadel Drive North, according to an online blotter entry.
Responding officers found one victim at the scene, and a second victim was located at a nearby hospital. The extent of their injuries was not released, but both are expected to survive, police said.
Witnesses told police that “several fights” were taking place before gunshots were heard.
No suspects had been identified as of Sunday morning.
